Review: This is a great route. We did it slightly differently. We went through Spider and did the double portage into Clear (into pond, cross pond, then into Clear), camped at the island site on Clear (fantastic!), and then took the longer portage back into the southern leg of Spider on the return. Spider is a spectacular lake, and Clear is quite different. You have a good chance of having Clear Lake entirely to yourself since there are only a few campsites, and there are some great fishing spots to be found. The best part...no cottages/motorboats on either lake!
